Viola Power International Course 2020

Welcome to the first edition of the Viola Power International Course, to be held in Granada from 3 – 6 September 2020. (New dates after having postponed the course due to the situation with Covid19). The course welcomes international viola students (over 16 years old) in a professional, bachelor or master degree. During these days, at the emblematic and traditional andalusian place ‘Corrala de Santiago’ a maximum of ten selected violists will work and live in this exclusive meeting directed by spanish viola soloist Isabel Villanueva.

The program includes three individual lessons per student with Isabel Villanueva; two group lessons of orchestral repertoire coached by Hanna Nisonen, principal viola of the Orquesta Ciudad de Granada; two stage presence workshops taught with Alessia Desogus and a final public concert of students. The program is combined with cultural activities including a guided group tour of the Alhambra, a flamenco concert and music talks.

Interested students must pre-register online before 31st July.
On 3rd August students will be contacted and the organization will publish the selected students. The deadline for paying the complete course fee is 10th August. Students haven’t made the payment by this date will automatically loose their place for the course.

Active students will be staying at the Corrala de Santiago on a full board basis.

The repertoire to be worked during these days must include a work for viola solo (will be performed at the final concert) and a piece of free choice.
For those students willing to improve technical aspects, a selection of studies and scales is recommended. Some chamber viola ensembles will be created and prepared to perform at the final concert.

The final concert will take place at the Corrala de Santiago on 6th September, Sunday at 13h. All active students will receive a diploma.
Students under 18 must send an authorization from their parents or guardians along with their enrollment.
Anybody is welcome to register and attend as listener during the course.
